engage was founded by Mike Anthony and Toby Desforges.

Mike Anthony

Mike is founder and CEO of engage.

Mike started his career in the UK with United Biscuits, where he held various positions in sales, trade marketing and marketing. He managed export markets in eastern Europe and southern Africa before joining United Biscuits' China operation in 1997. During his tenure as Marketing Director, United Biscuits created a portfolio of brands specially tailored to the needs of the Chinese market.

In 2000, Mike joined Mattel, where he was Sales and Marketing Director for Greater China, with additional responsibility for the management of key customers across Asia. Mike began consulting across the region in 2003 and founded engage in 2005.

He is an expert in the development of consumer brands for Asia markets and has worked across the region with such leading companies as bp, Cadbury, GlaxoSmithKline, Kao Corporation, Sara Lee and Unilever.

 

Toby Desforges

Toby is founder and Global Engagement Director of engage.

Toby began his career with Britvic Soft Drinks, Pepsi's bottler in the United Kingdom. In 1994, he joined Mars Confectionery, where he worked a variety of sales roles, eventually managing elements of Mars' business with Tesco and ASDA (now Wal-Mart). He left Mars to join Sony Pictures and manage sales to major key account customers. While there, he established Sony's trade marketing function and approach in the UK and western Europe.

In 2001, Toby joined Glendinning Management Consultants in Thailand and specialized in category management and the development of trade marketing organizations. He also developed national and regional customer management strategies and capabilities.

He has worked across Asia with leading companies, including bp, Danone Baby Nutrition, Glaxo Smith Kline, Kao Corporation, Nestle, Tesco Lotus and Unilever.

Toby founded engage with partner Mike Anthony in 2005.

 

Danaya Sinhaphalin (Duen)

Danaya is Director of Consulting at engage.

Danaya began her career at Unilever Thailand in 1991, where she spent a decade working in many roles across marketing, trade marketing and sales. During this period, Danaya led many changes to the Unilever organization, including new approaches to shopper research, introducing integrated account teams and leading the development of category management as well as supply chain management projects for the organization.

Prior to joining engage, Danaya was Director of Consulting at Glendinning Management Consultants, working on a wide variety of projects, including joint working category management, national category strategy development, sales structure and organization, and benchmarking.

Danaya's industry experience across Asia encompasses multiple industries, and she has worked with such leading companies and retailers as BJC, Mead Johnson, Pernod Ricard, Fonterra, L'Oreal, Carrefour and Watsons.

 

Rananchai Luthra

Rananachai is a Managing Consultant at engage.

Rananchai began his career in 1999 as project executive in a manufacturing company where his primary role was to explore, predict and understand the demand for a new value-added product under consideration. He then joined a trading company where he honed his selling and business management skills before moving to Synovate in 2003. At Synovate, he deftly managed local, regional and global research projects for major consumer goods, fast foods, mobile phones, cars, home appliances and world-renowned hotel chains. He was singled out as the company's champion (to coach others) on local brand mapping and product-testing solutions and developed its first internet-based survey, using an innovative questioning technique that combines qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

Joining engage in its early days, Rananchai has been instrumental in the development and delivery of enagageAssess™, Purchase Activation™ and People First™ projects for clients across the region.

 

Watcharewan Hundasiri (Mod)

Watcharewan is a Consultant at engage.

Prior to joining the engage team in 2007, Watcharewan devoted the first three years of her career to Taylor Nelson Sofres (Thailand), building expertise, responding to the demands of managing customized research projects and rising to Senior Project Manager. She has experience in a variety of qualitative and quantitative research techniques and has worked on local and global accounts in a broad range of industries including personal goods, dairy products, QSR (Quick Service Restaurant), healthcare and NPO.

Watcharewan brings shrewd analytical skills to the engage team. Her background in market research helps leverage the insight and strategies gained through the engageAssess™ and Purchase Activation™ projects with our clients in Asia. In particular, clients across the region are benefiting from her expertise in managing and executing engageAssess™.

 

Sujaree Wongsiri

Associate Director of Consulting

With over 15 years of experience in customer management and category management with Unilever Thailand and Coca-cola Thailand, Sujaree, former Customer Director, has successfully led the development of trading terms, in-store excellence, joint business planning and trade profitability. She has a wide birth of experience managing global retailers

 

Varaporn Senavong

Associate Consultant

With a strong background in Trade Marketing and Channel Management developed from working at Unilever Thailand, Thai Namthip and Glendinning Management Consultants, Varaporn has used this experience to successfully lead  a wide variety of training events and facilitated workshops for marketing, trade and sales functions from a wide range of industries.

 

Somsak Naraviroj

Associate Consultant

With over 20 years of experience in customer management with Unilever Thailand, Somsak’s has worked with key customers, distributors and sales teams in both general trade and modern trade. His expertise covers field sales management, distributor management, key customer management ant the managing and coaching of sales teams.
